Somethings that I have been thinking about…

Why is it that people have become so comfortable with eating foods that can do harm to them?

Of course emotion play a large part.

People love foods that make them feel good.

People love to eat foods that their friends and family enjoy so they can spend time together.

Emotions play a large part in what we eat as well.

I know that I can be a horrible stress eater if I am not careful. Things that I tend to crave include sweets, salty foods and crunchy foods.

But there are several healthier options that fall into those same categories…

Processed and refined foods have become the norm for our society.

They’re less expensive, easy to make, and many times you can grab and go from some place quick if you are busy and on the road.

Many of these processed foods lack the nutrition that our bodies need and crave, so we end up eating more than we really need to.

Many times hunger cravings can be caused because you are thirsty, or because your body needs a specific vitamin or mineral.

I’m not here to say that everyone needs to stop eating the foods that we have come to know and love…

but we need to start feeding ourselves proper nutrition again.

If you want your body to function properly and allow you to enjoy your life, taking care of it should be a priority.

Many times, it is not until you become sick or ill that you take care of yourself.

When I learned that I was sick all the time because of an autoimmune condition and that nutrition could control it….

I had two options:

  • I could continue to eat the foods that were causing flare ups, bloating, joint pain, weight gain, and fatigue…
  • OR.. I could change my diet and enjoy the things I love again. I could get my life back again.

I chose to change my diet.

I won’t tell you that it was or is easy.

It’s not.

There are days where I just want to eat a pint of ice cream or a box of cookies because I feel like it.

There are days where the people around me eat food that smells so goo, but I know one bite will send my stomach turning.

There are days I give in… and then I regret it.

But the thing about the Clean eating to Recharge yourself challenge is that it’s about developing better habits.

No one is going to be mad at me because I had a bad day…or week.

It’s all on me.

Everyday I am getting healthier with the small changes that I continue to make.

Everyday I face challenges and work to overcome them because I want to love my life. I want to love the things I do.

Maybe you don’t understand where I’m coming from…

That’s OK.

I know there are people though who are in the same boat as me.

They want to live a healthier life.

They want to gain their confidence and self-esteem back.

I’m here for them.

I’m here to say that at the end of the day, you are made for more…

and each day you have the option to make it better than the next.

I created an E-Book to help you make some simple changes that you can start today. Get your free E-book here. Along with it you will also get access to my newsletter.

Until next time!

Recharge your health journal: You have to be doing the things if you want to make progress

🍒Journal entry for Recharge Your Health challenge🍒

Along with improving my health through diet, I know that I need to be getting back into some form of exercise routine again.

Before I became sick, I rode horses for two hours a day, walked the dogs three miles a day, cleaned the stalls, brushed out the horses, did yoga every morning and every night…

I used to even run for five miles before having to slow down to the three mile walks and hikes with the dogs…that was at the very beginning.

Maybe you’re not an active person…so you don’t understand how good you feel running around doing these things. They are things I love though.

Imagine waking up one day and not being able to do any of the things that you love to do.

That’s what happened to me.

I’m on my path to finding myself again.

Emotionally and physically.

I want to feel whole again.

Do you understand what I mean?

Getting back into an exercise routine…

I’m so sore!😝

I have been working on squats and the stair stepper 1-2 times a day for 10-15 minutes a day. Typically I do these before my yoga routine so then I can focus on regaining and controlling my breathing.

Why did I choose these as my focus?

Because I ride horses….and I hike.

These focus on the muscles that I need to be able to ride the way I used to again.

I have some arm and shoulder exercises that I do as well with weights and resistance bands. They are not my main focus though.

I only allow myself one week day off and one weekend day off.

Before I became sick, I was a very active person.

I have been trying desperately to get back into my old routine🙄

Every time I try to jump in, I just feel frustrated because it’s hard to do the things I used to…

Then I overwork myself and become exhausted.

I used to be able to ride the horses for a hard two hour workout…I’m not really back to that standard yet…but it’s nice to be having fun in the saddle again 🐎

I feel like I am gaining some ground since I started this challenge though.

I’m working on pacing myself now.

I can hold my yoga poses longer and my flexibility is coming back.

I don’t feel as winded when the dogs and I go out for our three mile trek 🐾

I make sure that every morning I drink my clean tea with vitamin fizz, and every night I have another hot clean tea ☕️

It soothes my throat and keeps my stomach happy🎉

Steering clear of processed sugar is definitely keeping my skin clear too💥

I have struggled with breakouts on my face off and on for a while. I would get my skin calmed down and then it would happen all over again.

Things are more under control now…including the eczema that used to pop up and drive me crazy to the point that I wanted to rip my skin off.

Everyday is another step in my journey🏝

Starting off the New Year with the vision of health

I have been sick off and on for the last three years!

The last year was the worst when I was struggling with Lyme disease.

I saw seven different doctors and specialists and not a single one could figure out how to help me.

I had all sorts of tests run including ct scans, blood work every week, cameras and scopes sent down my nose and throat several times, x-rays…. everything.

I continued to be in pain everyday.

I continued to sleep 24-7.

I almost lost my job.

I even was unable to eat solid food for 2 months!

I know many people would have given up.

I wanted to…

but I couldn’t.

I knew that there had to be something out there. Someone had to know how to help me.

I ended up traveling out of state to Georgia to a Holistic Practitioner.

My husband and I would drive down, get a hotel there the night before, and then be in the office for 6-7 hours for tests and treatments.

Along with working with this practitioner, I was also working with another in Washington and an herbalist in Tennessee. My primary care doctor saw how much these methods were working to help me and even started researching herbs and foods that could help me.

Very quickly I began to regain my strength.

I did have set backs here and there, but within two months I was starting to get better. Within the first week of treatment I was able to eat solid food again.

As I began learning more from them how foods, herbs and supplements could help me, I began exploring other options so I wouldn’t have to travel so far.

That’s where I found a company that supports clean eating and helps you re-balance your system through nutrition.

I am starting off the New Year with a clean eating challenge.

For 30 days I will be building more health habits, using nutrition to continue healing my body, and sharing with you how it’s all working!

New Years Resolutions…

Did you decide on a New Years Resolution?

I have a couple things in mine that I plan on sticking with.

No matter what your goals are… whether they are for your health, mindset, business, family, or another area… make the goal that you will keep with it this year.

Every year I hear of people who make goals and never follow through for the entire year.

Maybe you are one of those people, maybe you’re not.

I challenge you to put yourself first this year.

Without your health, you cannot do things for your friends and family.

If you want to do something for them, take care of you!

Happy New Year!!

Sweet winter treats that you don’t have to feel guilty about

During the holidays…and the winter months in general…sugary treats and beverages are EVERYWHERE!

When you visit friends and family, typically there is some sort of desert to tempt you.

Also, a lot of the classic holiday items tend to be full of sugar and other ingredients that sabotage your diet efforts and cause inflammation and stomach problems.

I have a couple different treats that save me this time of year, and help stay on my clean eating journey to control the autoimmune disorder that I have.

My first thing I want to share with you are baked apples! This treat can be made in so many ways, and it never gets old.

Heres my favorite recipe for them:

  • You will need Honeycrisp apples (or the apple of your choice if these are too sweet for you), cinnamon, butter, crushed walnuts, chopped up cranberries.
  • Cut the apples in half and scoop out a little in the center. In the center you will put some crushed walnuts and cranberries. Cover the top with cinnamon and a small shaving of butter.
  • Pre-heat the oven to 350F, and then place the apples on a pan in the oven. Let them bake for an hour. When done, let cool and then serve. It tastes so good and makes the house smell AMAZING!

Another recipe that I have come to love is my fizzy cider! This drink is pack with vitamins and minerals, and gives you energy to keep going through a busy day.

Heres my recipe for this yummy drink:

  • You will need water, a mug, cinnamon, and a stick of green apple fizz. (You can order your fizz sticks HERE)
  • Heat up the water, pour into the mug, and add a dash of cinnamon. Then pour in the fizz stick and watch the bubbly goodness. Tastes just like warm apple cider!

Keep you health on track and get ready for another amazing year!

Until next time 🙂

Consistency will bring results

Your efforts will shine through.

I keep telling you that my mentor is doing another course. It hasn’t even started yet and I am already getting results from the things that she is teaching us to do.

I had created a post in our group to celebrate my successes and so many people were cheering for me.

Then, I went to check my email this morning, and I found this!💥

My post was emailed out to our entire tribe‼️

I can’t even explain the excitement I feel from all of this.

I know you would be excited if your company was telling everyone about you too!

Everyday I work on being consistent and taking action.

It’s all coming together now.

I’m so great-full to the people have helped me on this journey.

I want to help you do the same❗️

I want to invite you to learn with me so you can start executing now👉

I know what’s possible.

I know you the passion you have in your soul.

Hot chocolate and candy canes

My favorite treat in the winter months is hot chocolate.

It’s that one thing that just brings all the warm childhood memories to life again.

I have been making time specifically to watch some favorite movies and think about things that I did as a child.

Making sugar cookies, building snowmen, having snowball fights, and jumping in the snow with the dogs and my little brother.

We had these sleds that we use to pull each other around on…

and when we got to the top of the hill we would race to the bottom.

We always had candy canes on our Christmas tree.

We always had marshmallows in our hot chocolate.

Memories like these bring so many feelings.

This time of the year do yourself a few favors…

  • Spend time with your family
  • Enjoy the moments that you are in now
  • Create memories that you will cherish
  • Remember to relax and destress as well!

I started making my protein shakes as a hot chocolate with cinnamon an some candy cane crumbles.

Yummy, healthy and good for the soul.

It’s moments like these that I wish I didn’t live so far from my family.

There are a lot of miles between Tennessee and New York.

Hopefully sooner than later, my parents will be living so much closer.

I can’t wait!

I hope you have a happy holiday my friend.

Stop putting your goals on the back-burner!

Meeting your goals is all about taking action💯

One step at a time you can move forward…

But you have to take that first step.

When I started my health journey I was so worn out and frustrated.

I felt like the world had given up on me.

No one had answers as to why I could not stay awake, everything hurt and I could barely even eat. I felt like I had been run over by a truck.

Doing the same things everyday got me no where.

Then I learned about holistic healthcare and nutrition.

I found my way out.

✅I have more energy

✅I can do the things I love again like hiking and riding the horses

✅The brain fog is gone

✅I’m feeling so much better

Through the clean eating challenge I have been helping people find who they are and enjoy life again.

If you have been struggling and looking for answers…

If you just want to lose some weight and feel better physically and mentally….

Let’s chat and see how I can help👉

One change could be all you need to get your health on track.

Holiday Temptations

Do you feel like during the holidays that everyone feels the need to bake all sorts of goodies?

Each treat is so pretty and you just want to try it because you feel that it is expected of you…and everyone else is eating it as well!

You have three choices….

  • One is that you can eat it and be mad at yourself later.
  • One is that you could eat half of the serving that was offered….but you still feel guilty later.
  • Or you could just say no. Did you know that this is acceptable?

Why is it that you find it so hard to say no? This is not only with food, but also whenever someone asks you to do something.

The word “NO” makes us feel like we are doing something wrong.

In reality you are doing something RIGHT!

I read this book called “Breaking Your Own Rules” by Jill Flynn with several co-authors. It is hard for women especially to say no to anything.

In reality you are standing up for yourself, preventing overwhelm, and helping your mental health.

Do you realize how important this little work is to your mental health and well-being?!

Peer pressure all to often controls what we do.

When you are placed in a situation where you know that you will be frustrated or overwhelmed after the event, step back and remember that you matter too.

Is it really going to matter to the other person after the fact if you said no? Maybe…

Will they shun you forever? Probably not…

So if you are working on your health goals through the holidays, remember that it’s OK to say “NO”. Other people are capable of eating the treats for you.

Your mind matters. Remember self care this holiday season!

Until next time 🙂

What happened in my first clean eating challenge!

I know I didn’t cover my first challenge as often as I had wanted to in the beginning.

There are some great changes that came out of it though.

When I first started the challenge, my goal was to eliminate the sugar cravings and reduce stress eating.

I am a horrible stress eater. Sometimes the cravings are for chocolate, sometimes for salt, and sometimes just for something super crunchy.

I didn’t really notice much until just into my second week.

Normally around 3-4pm is when my cravings kick in.

In the middle of my second week, I realized that I hadn’t eaten the chocolate hummus that was in my fridge. I had bought it specifically for my cravings as a healthier option.

I had been drinking my fizzy stick as I was getting ready to take the dogs for a walk.

The fizzy sticks had taken place of the stress eating that would normally happen. Since these little gems are jam packed with vitamins and minerals, they were giving me the energy I needed to keep going without coffee.

When you give yourself good nutrition, there are so many amazing benefits!

Not only did I see a change in my eating and cravings, but I also had some visible effects on my body.

I had taken some measurements before the challenge…I should probably invest in a scale, but I don’t have one.

Before the challenge I was a size three with the following measurements:

  • Butt – 37 inches
  • Middle of my waist- 28 inches
  • Bust- 36.5 inches

After the challenge I am still a size three…but with some changes:

  • Butt- 37 inches
  • Middle of my waist- 27.5 inches
  • Bust- 36 inches

That’s pretty cool, especially since I didn’t add any strenuous exercise into it!

My skin also has it’s own changes!

I tend to get some acne on my forehead…it’s gone! I’m not someone who likes to wear makeup on my face, so everyone would always see when I’m having a breakout.

Now they get to see me without makeup…and without the acne!

After Thanksgiving I will be starting my second clean eating challenge.

My plan is to update you once a week on my progress.

If you want to take it with me, click here to contact me…or you can get started with the link on the side.

Until next time!
